- Students board a charter bus for Chicago to visit the German Consulate and take in the annual Christkindelsmarkt. Droves of native Germans make the trip across the Atlantic to bring their traditions of the famous Christmas Market to the Midwest. Kids have the day to roam the square at Daily Plaza and take in the smells, sounds and sights of Stollen, Bratwurst, German holiday music and folks dressed up in traditional German garb.
- In certain years students opt to travel east to Frankenmuth, Michigan, otherwise known as Michigan's Little Bavaria. On this fieldtrip teachers and kids retrace the steps of Michigan's Germanic roots
- Rockford High School also fosters relationships with area colleges and our local German-American Edelweiss Club for additional cultural activities such as meals, celebrations, Kaffeeklatsch and more.
- At home in Rockford RHS German students gather for German Film Evenings, German Club gatherings, individual tutoring sessions and try to speak German together in the halls. Advanced students also volunteer to teach German at area elementary schools.
